High-net-worth investors are rethinking how they distribute dividends, according to an article published by Estadão. Effective since January, Law No. 15,270/2025 introduced the Minimum Individual Income Tax (IRPFM), which now includes dividends in its tax base for annual incomes above R$600,000.
Even so, Brazil’s Federal Revenue Service collected only 4% of the amount projected for 2026 through the new mechanism, suggesting that taxpayers have already been taking proactive steps and adjusting their wealth structures.
Alamy Candido, our founding partner, explains that the first step is to assess all of a taxpayer’s sources of income to identify the tax burden already paid. “Based on this assessment, we can determine whether any adjustments are necessary so that, by the end of the year, the minimum tax is reached as efficiently as possible,” he says.
