Our partner, Tatiana Del Giudice Cappa Chiaradia, took part in an article published on Folha de S.Paulo’s “What kind of tax is this?” blog, which covered the rejection of Provisional Measure 1227, which restricts the offsetting of PIS/Cofins credits. The declaratory act, signed by the president of the Senate and Congress, Rodrigo Pacheco, was published in the Federal Official Gazette.

According to the parliamentarian, the MP’s restrictions brought immediate and abrupt burdens to important sectors of the economy, with no reasonable timeframe for companies to adapt their financial flow to the new restrictive rules.

The tax expert said in the report that several clients were impacted and were worried about the ban on offsetting, which directly impacts their cash flow, with amounts that would be offset this month and would have to be paid in cash.
